Crown of Earth and Sky

What do I want?
A quick death.
Barring that, I only dream of one thing—revenge.

Veyka Pendragon was crowned queen in a farce fit for any circus. Now, as her traitorous court plots around her, the new Queen of the Elemental Fae must take revenge on the humans who betrayed her while also guarding a dangerous secret.

The arrival of her betrothed, the storied Brutal Prince, is merely another cog in the wheels of time and space spinning around her.

Arran Earthborn is the strongest terrestrial fae in millennia. If Veyka wishes to keep the peace her ancestors fought and died for, she must join with him soon.

But the Brutal Prince has not earned his name by playing nice. The torture he exacts will enrage and enflame her—and endanger a secret that would rip their world to shreds.

The days are slipping by.
Very soon I will have to choose…
The crown that destroyed my life but protects my kingdom…
Or settling the scores that haunt my every step.

Veyka and Arthur. The twins who should not be. Arthur the heir to the Kingdom. Veyka the newly released prisoner, tortured survivor and now talented warrior. But when Arthur is struck down, Veyka finds herself was the unwanted queen and heir. Now she must navigate court politics, Fae rivalries and the machinations of the Dowager!

Arran Earthborn may be her intended but she won’t be submitting to anyone, ever again. But can Arran make Veyka see that life can be worth living after loss. That arranged marriage can lead to true love. That sometimes creating a family of friends, can be stronger than that of blood relations.

I really loved Veyka. She has taken her trauma and turned it into her super-power. She’s decided that if she doesn’t love anyone else, then it won’t hurt if anyone else is taken from her. She turns from tortured, self-loathing, powerless survivor to powerful warrior, fated mate and queen of the realm. Arran may be the strongest fae for centuries but for a warrior with a fearsome reputation he has strong friendships and quite a tenderheart under all those muscles. when he finally sees past Veyka’s outer shell of “doesn’t give a s**t” and sees the self-hate boiling there, he drags her soul kicking and screaming into the light. He refuses to allow her to die and shirk her duty to her people.

Revenge, hope, triumph over abuse, found family and dealing with prophecies all mix together into a fabulous story. Some parts of the story are hard to read due to the themes being dealt with (child abuse, torture, confinement and suicidal thoughts) but they make Veyka’s triumph that much more sweeter.

Throne of Air and Darkness

Down, down, down.
I am being pulled away, pulled apart, ripped at the very seams of my being.
But a voice in the darkness, a name in the bitter cold air, pulls me back…

She was never meant to be queen. But Veyka Pendragon sits the throne nonetheless, High Queen of Annwyn, Protector of the faerie realm. And at her side? The male who was once her enemy, then her ally, and now, something else entirely.

The secret she tried so hard to protect was a lie. So was the brother she loved so dearly. She can hardly trust the reality she sees with her own two eyes, let alone the feelings burning in her chest—feelings that she swore she’d never feel again.

Arran Earthborn has spent three hundred years killing his way across battlefields to find his place beside the female he loves. He will do anything to keep her safe… even if it means burning Annwyn to the ground in a quest for the truth.

But the answers they seek lurk beyond… in a land of pain and desperation. The human realm.

Veyka and Arran return and now they must battle a malady that threatens all the people of Annwyn. And the answers they seek appear to be found somewhere in the humans realm. Veyka must come to terms with her new found powers and her connection to Arran.  But some still plot against Veyka and the newly crowned High Queen and King of Annwyn may lose more than win.

Veyka’s new void powers are playing into a prophecy but can she overcome the last vestiges of her selfish outlook and self-loathing tendencies to protect Annwyn?  Seeing her overcome more of her past and even her fresher hatred of humans is quite something. My heart was at turns happy and heavy through this book.  There were more than a few WTAF moments and I did almost chuck my kindle in disgust at one point.  All I’ll say is hang on to your favourite secondary characters ‘cos they won’t all make it to the other side!

The storyline moves at a fair clip, although maybe it only feels faster paced as the world is now settled in my memory and I know who everyone is. My heartbroke at several times when endearing secondary characters didn’t make it. The added POV’s also added another layer to the story and allowed us to see the mindset and rationale of characters outwith our MMC’s.

Court of Vines and Vipers

Some of us aren’t meant to be happy.
I was foolish to think I deserved it.

The darkness is coming for Annwyn. Veyka Pendragon must stand—with her friends spread across the realms, her mate lost to her, her heart in shreds.

She must face down seven thousand years of prejudice and a lifetime of self doubt. She must make herself a queen that other kingdoms want to ally with… or the entire world will descend into darkness. But how will she defend the world from a darkness rooted in her very soul? She has come to love that dark power within her.

But love is dangerous. Love can kill. Love can be lost.

And the mate that emerges from the mist? Will Arran Earthborn recognize the female he fell in love with… can he love the queen she’s been forced to become?

I was made for death and destruction.
Honed as a weapon since childhood.
But in the face of the ultimate darkness… even I might not be enough.

Veyka continues to grow but she still has those wobbles where her self loathing and grief try to take over. But fate really hasn’t finished with Veyka and Arran and i had a tear or too again reading this.

Veyka calls upon an a neutral party to save the one she literally cannot and will not live without. But what will the magical cost be? Can Veyka live with the outcome? I loved reading more about Arran’s parents and how he lost his brother. The stakes just keep climbing for Veyka, Arran and all of Annwyn.

I’m not sure how Veyka will react when news of Parys reaches her – I feel there may be an epic meltdown to come!

Now to wait on the concluding part of the story and a very hard won HEA I hope!
